Project initiated by Info-Handicap – National Disability Council at the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Context:

Every year, Info-Handicap organises actions at the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) which is held on December 3rd. For the IDPD 2016, Info-Handicap decided to focus on the inclusion into work and the preservation of the workplace of persons with disabilities.

In order to promote the collaborative networking such as the consolidation of varied experiences and knowledge, we cooperate with varied actors working in this particular field. Many departments and associations are active in the fields of work and employment of persons with disabilities and a good coordination is therefore essential. In addition, a whole series of measures and tools intended to favour the professional integration of the employees do exist.

Our project aims at taking influence on the functioning of society so as to work towards a better inclusion of persons with disabilities. The day of December 3rd allows putting forward the situation of persons with disabilities while fostering the elimination of barriers in order to guarantee their inclusion.

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities puts forward the freedom for all to fully participate in societal life. To reach this goal, it is necessary to be able to earn one’s own money and having a job is an essential component in that process.

Objectives of the project:

  1. To demonstrate that the inclusion into work of persons with disabilities is possible when a series of conditions are fulfilled and that such inclusion benefits everybody.
  2. To promote networking and merging experiences and knowledge in order to guarantee a better inclusion into work of employees with disabilities.

Actions planned within the project:

  1. Organisation on 29.11.2016 of «MODES D’EMPLOI », a conference on the theme of work and employment of persons with disabilities
  2. Launch of the website www.modesdemploi.lu together with the project partners, in order to collect good practice and promising strategies meant at supporting the inclusion into work of persons with disabilities
  3. Organisation of the workshop « Disability recruiting - a competitive advantage » held by two international experts in German language on 30.11.2016 to the address of companies and human resources managers.
  4. Compilation of a press portfolio on the work of persons with disabilities and publication of a special « MODES D’EMPLOI newsletter » in cooperation with Info-Handicap’s member organisations and the project partners.
  5. Launch of an advertising campaign by the signatories of the « Empoi&Handicap »-Charter
  6. Creation of a « Jobmatching Guide » by the organisation Zarabina asbl centred on the skills of persons with reduced work capacity.
  7. Setting up training modules by the labour unions OGB-L and LCGB to be launched in 2017 with the aim to increase the skills of union representatives for supporting employees with disabilities.
